Loving Freely is a resource developed by Dan Crain, Pastor, Consultant and Connector for REMERGE.
Loving Freely unpacks the need for us to examine ourselves in order to truly know how to love and serve others as the beloved children of God. The process is spelled out through the Loving Freely Process and able to be lived into with the Loving Freely Seven.
It is a five hour training introducing those who help others to receive help themselves.
Christ, it is for freedom that you have set us free to Love Freely.
We are created for glory and you delight in us as your beloved children, with whom you are well pleased.
My false self longs for the affirmation and approval of others. May I hear the same words from you God that you spoke over your son Jesus when he was baptized in Mark 1, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” May I embrace that in you, God I am enough as your beloved child.
My false self longs to control others and life. May I hold all things loosely today realizing that the reconciliation of all things is ultimately yours and not mine. May I rest in the words of Isaiah 65, “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth.” I relinquish control to you, God and rest in your work.
My false self longs for the safety and security I can get from loving others. May I rest in the truth that through the power of your Holy Spirit in John 14, “I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.” The indwelling of the Holy Spirit makes us feel safe and secure, which means we don’t need anything from others.
My false self longs to be separate and to be its own god. May I realize that giving and receiving with others is ultimately as Paul says in Philippians 4 about giving glory to you; “They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” May I live fully out my true self in Christ not to feed my narcism, but to be fully alive for your glory.
May we become what we already are in you as your beloved Children in order to love others freely.
