I got to meet Vesta today.  I’ve heard a lot of great things about her, but I had not gotten the chance to meet her.  Vesta was living life on the street when she and Pastor Andy met.  During some of that time she was also pregnant.

I can’t really put into words what it was like to meet her finally.  Kind of like meeting a legend that you’ve heard about but never got to meet in person.  She is exuberant, excited, happy, outgoing, and a ton of other adjectives that don’t come to mind at the moment.  She was stopping in to say hello to everyone.  She has a job, got her drivers license, has an apartment and she is stunningly happy.

When the days get monotenous and it seems like we are working for nothing, Jesus sends people like Vesta back for a visit to remind us that we are here for a purpose, God’s purpose.  Sometimes I don’t want to fight the traffic to come down here.  I start thinking that I’m not really doing anything anyway.  How could I do any good.  And so on and so forth it goes.

It’s days like this that God steps in and sends someone like Vesta in to visit.  A living example of what Jesus can and will do if we will trust and continue on the path that God has for us.  I’m glad Vesta came in today.  Maybe I’ll do it again tomorrow after all. 😉
