Severe weather for the homeless

Severe weather for the homeless

The weather guys are reporting some severe weather coming through the Atlanta area this afternoon.  Most people will pay a little attention to these kinds of warnings.  We don’t spend a whole lot of time worrying about it because we’re typically at home or going from work(shelter) to home(shelter). But what happens if there is […]

Lunch time amazement

Lunch time amazement

I’m always amazed at what Chef Harry can do with the donations that we get in. Today was a Mexican inspired concoction that was nothing short of excellent.

Update for Church on the Street 11/9/12

We had a busy week.  We had our open house a few days ago.  We were able to share what we do with some local people and businesses.   We helped a lady and her daughter get into transitional housing. Helped 2 other women get off the street and return to the families. Helped another […]

Good open house

Good open house

We had a good first day of our open house. It was definitely a good time to get some early spring cleaning done. We are hoping that tomorrow’s open house time will be even better because its on a Saturday. We will have our regular time in the park followed by open house hours.

Reading is a gift

Reading is a gift

Letter from a youth group

Letter from a youth group

We received this letter this week and wanted to share it. I’m writing from the church youth group in North Carolina.  We were in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago doing various mission works, and you graciously took time out of your schedule to meet with us on Sunday evening and share your thoughts on […]

Daily chores

Daily chores

Since we are living in a community environment, we have chores that have to be done. Kitchen cleaning was happening this morning. Service as modeled by Jesus is the goal.

No soup for you!!!

No soup for you!!!

Ok, this is not a post about the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, but I’ve always wanted to use that line and this was my chance. So there, I’ve done it and now my life is nearly complete. 😉 Actually, I want to try to explain to you what our daily lunch together is all about. […]
